Education, Refurbishment

Our Role

Xmirus was engaged to provide a building review and life cycle cost report. The objective of the cost report was to provide the University of Technology Sydney Program Management office with a proposed draft brief and fee proposal for a phased review providing a Life Cycle Cost Report to evaluate the condition of Building 4.

The review considered the condition and challenges of maintaining an existing building, current and projected investment by the University in the asset.

Project Aim

The existing building at the UTS CBD Campus is large building constructed in 1948. The building is 7 levels high and a very large footprint, representing 25,000 m2 of Gross Floor Area. It provides facilities for Faculty of Science and is heavily fitted out with laboratories of various types.

The building had undergone multiple refurbishments, upgrades and functional use changes in its life and has reached a point where the Client wishes to explore the long‐term feasibility and opportunities for the building.
